Rubbish (or) art?

Rubbish (or) art, originally uploaded by Lancaster Today.

It's Monday evening on King Street, Lancaster. The rubbish is collected early Tuesday.

  1. If it is not art to the artist, then who should argue?

  2. Art, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder...but I do have some standards (meaning I know what I like).

    This, I think, is rubbish.

    But, it's a nice photograph!

  3. They obviously do not value it. Why should anyone else?

The balaustrade and the crumbling rendered rock is attractive though ...

  4. The consensus is that's it's rubbish then. Funny, when my daughter Yasmin saw the photo last night she was distraught that I hadn't taken the pictures for her wall. She wanted them all except for the one at the forefront which she claimed was 'scary'. Aren't I lucky I didn't take her on my walk this time!

p.s. Julie, must take some close-ups of some great stonework around here. The city is full of good examples.

  5. Likes like a load of rubbish to me Eamon. Having said that, the Superman symbol might be ridiculous enough to qualify as some kind of post-modern, naive, or outsider art. Not that that means it's any good, of course. Nice picture though.

  6. Well I would think someone would like them, but not me!

  7. I actually kind of like the voodoo skull one... it's just strange enough and brightly colored enough to appeal to me. Don't think I would hang it in my house, but it's kinda cool.

(Thanks for the "follow", by the way! I enjoyed finding your art here.)

  9. Alien Mind Girl, did you know that we (or I anyway) can't leave comments on your posts. It doesn't work for some reason.

  10. I have an art teacher friend who says if you say it's art, then it's art. I'm not sure I agree with him but I think he really believes it.
