Lancaster Canal, USA

It's a dark night on Lancaster Canal, and the area closest to the city centre is full of moored narrow boats. It's August and the 'boat people' are out in force, having travelled far and wide along the canal network. It seems some have even come from other continents.

... but for those of you who loathe squinting at dark photos, here's one I took over the weekend. This little blighter just stood there staring, hardly moving. It was amazing, I tell you! He was practically tame!

  1. I like the idea of canals and wish the one that went through our area was still working. Only parts of it or where it was can be seen here and there. That was a system of transportation that did work for long time in Ohio but was gone when I was born 75 years ago. I like the statue of the hedge hog. I think there are some around but I have never seen one in my lifetime. Thanks for stopping and helping me make history on my Pick a Peck of Pixels blog.

  2. I've always liked hedgehogs, but have only seen them in pet stores! Both pictures are nice. I always have trouble with night shots.

  3. I would love to see more of the canals and the barges if you can manage it, Eamon.
